Mercedes-Benz launches super-luxury saloons Maybach 62 S and 57 S



Mercedes-Benz has launched the latest versions of the two cars under its super-luxury brand Maybach, marking the German carmaker's 125th anniversary.
The superbly luxurious saloons launched in India are — Maybach 62 S and Maybach 57 S.

The names of these cars are based on there respective lengths in decimeter.
The Maybach saloons are tailor-made as per the requirements of each individual's choice and requirements. Mercedes-Benz will take 6-9 months for delivery of the cars, which can be customised according to buyers' orders.

Maybach 57 S -- Rs.4.85 crore


Maybach 62 S -- Rs.5.10 crore


More Power, Less Emissions
Even though the engineers at Maybach have increased the output of the Maybach 57 S and 62 S by 13 kW (18 hp) to 463 kW (630 hp), they were able to reduce the consumption figures (5.5 km/litre) and the CO2 output (from 390 to 368 g/km CO2) at the same time. All the Maybach 12-cylinder engines meet the EU5 standard/LEV2.

The Sales-War
The carmaker sells 20-30 units of these each year in China. Worldwide, the market for such hi-end luxury cars is around 1,000 units a year. In India, some of the competitors in the segment include Rolls Royce, Bentley, etc.



The luxury car market in India is estimated at around 15,000 units annually.
BMW sales are topping since the last two years, Mercedes-Benz and Audi, losing it.
While BMW sold 6,246 units in India in 2010, Mercedes-Benz sales stood at 5,819 cars.

The war is on.
